Above town, not out of it
Whiskey Ridge Lodge sits at the end of a residential street on the slope just above downtown Gatlinburg. It isn’t a cabin lost in the forest: neighbors are near, the trees are thick rather than endless, and a mountain coaster loops through the woods directly below one of the decks. What that position buys you is rare for a house this size — downtown is at the bottom of the hill, close enough to walk to a deli or dinner and leave the car in the drive.
The main-floor deck looks out over green ridges, and the host describes views over downtown from the hot tub. Just know the walk home climbs, and the setting trades wilderness for convenience.
Six bedrooms and a lounge built for play
The house is a restored older home, paneled in warm wood throughout, spread over three floors. The main level holds the kitchen, a dining room, a living room around a stone fireplace, the king master, a bunk room and a screened sky bridge with bar seating on whiskey barrels. Downstairs brings a second lounge with its own fireplace, more bunk rooms, a king bedroom, access to the private hot tub and the game room — barn wood, copper ceiling tiles, pool, foosball, air hockey, pop-a-shot and arcade cabinets. The top floor adds two more rooms.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with a gas range, dishwasher and a high chair for the youngest, and a washer and dryer help on longer stays.
What a big group should weigh
The numbers are the catch. Six bedrooms and plenty of bunks sleep a crowd, but three bathrooms serve all of them, so mornings need a rota. Stairs link every floor, which matters for anyone with limited mobility or small children. There’s no pool, and the hot tub is the only water on the property.
House rules also lean family: guests under twenty-five check in only with a parent or guardian, bachelor and bachelorette parties aren’t accepted and quiet hours apply overnight. For a multi-generation family that wants the Gatlinburg bustle on foot and a game room to come back to, that is exactly the right fit.
