East of Gatlinburg, on a flat paved lot
Lux Cabin sits on a wooded hillside in the hills east of Gatlinburg, a Gatlinburg address about half an hour’s drive from the strip, and a world away from the go-karts. It’s part of a resort of similar homes, so this isn’t backwoods seclusion — you’ll see neighbors through the trees — but the trade buys two things that matter for a group: a paved, level driveway, and a shared pool with a mountain view a short walk from the door.
That flat drive deserves its billing in the cabin’s name. Gatlinburg’s hillsides are famously steep, and plenty of “mountain view” rentals come with a driveway that tests your nerves and your brakes. Here you pull straight in, park two vehicles, and unload at the door. Downtown and the Parkway are about 30 minutes away by our estimate, and the park’s Cosby and Sugarlands entrances roughly as far, so plan the day around one drive rather than popping back and forth.
Three suites, a soak, and room to spread out
Inside, this is a proper group cabin. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms spread across two levels, with a great room built around a granite island and bar seating, a full kitchen — oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee, the works — and a washer and dryer for longer stays. A stone fireplace anchors the living space; a game room with a pool table, a game console and streaming keep the evenings busy; a children’s high chair signals who this cabin is really for.
The private hot tub on the deck is the nightly ritual, tucked under the trees with the mountain air for company. There’s an outdoor dining area and a barbecue for group dinners, and balconies stacked to catch the view. For a family or a couple of couples, it’s the kind of cabin where everyone finds their corner — kids in the bunk room, adults on the deck, someone racking the pool balls.
Stairs, a shared pool, and a dog deposit
Two honest caveats before you book. First, the pool: the cabin’s outdoor pool is the resort’s shared pool, not a private one — seasonal, a short walk away, lovely, but not yours alone. If your group pictures a private pool off the deck, this isn’t it; the private water here is the hot tub. Naming that early keeps expectations straight.
Second, the layout. The upper floors are reached by stairs only, which is no issue for an able-bodied group but rules the cabin out for anyone who can’t manage a staircase several times a day. And while dogs are genuinely welcome — a real plus in a market that often isn’t — the welcome comes with pet fees and rules, so confirm them rather than assume.
None of this dents what the cabin is: a spacious, well-kept, dog-friendly base for a group that wants amenities and an easy arrival, and doesn’t need to be in town. Just book it for what it is — a resort cabin — rather than the secluded hideaway some Gatlinburg listings imply.
