Downtown within walking reach
Poolin Around sits a short walk from downtown Gatlinburg, close enough that the car can stay parked for most of a stay. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a walk of roughly a quarter-hour, Flapjack’s Pancake Cabin and Parton’s Deli are closer still, and the Space Needle and the rest of the Parkway’s attractions lie just beyond, around twenty minutes on foot. The national park entrance is a short drive away.
The listing photos also show a concrete patio with bistro tables set on the bank of a rocky mountain creek, shaded by hardwoods — the most appealing outdoor spot on offer. What you won’t get is a ridge-top panorama: this is an in-town cabin, not a mountain perch.
Swim spa, pool table, stone hearth
Inside, it’s pine walls up to a vaulted ceiling, dressed in a navy-and-white nautical theme — oars, life rings and a ship’s wheel on the mantel. The swim spa has a room of its own, lined in pine with its own windows and a doorway straight into the living area, so a soak never means a dash across a cold deck.
The main room gathers dark sofas around a stone fireplace and a TV, with a pool table set along one side. The kitchen is fully equipped — oven, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave — with a round table for four beside it. There’s a washer and dryer, a barbecue, and free WiFi throughout. The single bedroom, as pictured, pairs a large bed with a small sitting corner by the windows.
Where it falls short
Check the sleeping arrangements first: this is one bedroom, listed for up to four guests, and the listing doesn’t spell out where guests three and four sleep. Ask before you book for a group of four.
The track record is also thin. Only a handful of guests have reviewed it so far, and they were cool on the facilities, the comfort of the bed and the value for money — cleanliness and the location fared better. Parking is free on site but can’t be reserved, and pets come with possible extra charges. For a couple or a small group who want the swim spa and a walk to dinner, it’s a distinctive pick — just go in with measured expectations.
