Chalet Village, minutes from town
Theo’s Treehouse sits on a steep, wooded lot in Chalet Village, the hillside neighborhood that climbs from downtown Gatlinburg toward Ober Mountain. From the road it looks modest — a small entry porch and a paved pad for the car — but the chalet drops away down the slope behind, its decks stacked one above the other over the trees.
The location is the practical argument. The host places downtown about a mile and a half away and Ober roughly a mile up the hill, with the park’s visitor center a short drive beyond. It isn’t a walk-to-town address — the roads here are steep and the Parkway is a drive — but few places this close to the action feel this green once you’re on the deck.
Inside a new build of pine and glass
The interior is recently finished and it shows: pine walls, wide-plank floors, tall windows and French doors that pull the forest into the living room. A leather sofa and a pair of armchairs face an electric fireplace with a TV above it, and the dining table and kitchen island share the same high-ceilinged room. The kitchen is complete, with oven, stovetop, dishwasher and a coffee maker, and there’s a washer and dryer for longer stays.
The bedroom is a calm, pine-walled room with a king bed, according to the host, and there are two bathrooms. Outside, the covered deck holds the private hot tub and a couple of chairs looking straight into the canopy. Pets are welcome, with a fee possible, and there are board games and baby gates for families.
Where the layout pinches
This is a one-bedroom chalet that sleeps six, and the arithmetic matters. Per the host, the extra guests sleep on queen bunk beds in the downstairs family room — fine for children or friends who don’t mind sharing, less so for two couples who each want a door to close.
The lot is steep and the living spaces are spread over levels, so expect stairs inside and out; anyone with limited mobility should look elsewhere. The view is of forest, not mountains, so don’t book expecting a ridge-line sunrise. And the pools come courtesy of the Chalet Village clubhouses — shared with the rest of the neighborhood, not at the chalet, and open only through the summer season.
