A Tudor house on the hill
Mountain View Mansion doesn’t look like a typical Smokies log cabin. It’s a half-timbered, Tudor-style house with brick chimneys and stone walls, set on a hilltop off Buckhorn Road east of downtown Gatlinburg, with hardwoods on every side and the view opening up where the trees drop away. Inside there are six bedrooms and seven bathrooms across some three thousand four hundred square feet, sleeping up to fourteen.
It sits on the quieter side of town. A couple of local restaurants are less than a mile away, but the Parkway and its attractions are a drive, about a quarter of an hour. Plan on everyone piling into the cars for dinner in town rather than walking down.
Pool room and terrace
The house is built around two spaces. The first is the pool wing: a private indoor pool with lit water and arcing jets, under a high timber ceiling, with a glass wall at the far end looking out to the mountains. Bar tables, Adirondack chairs, a wall-mounted TV and a small kitchen counter mean it works as a second living room, and the weather outside never matters.
The second is the terrace outside that glass wall. It’s a wide, open expanse of concrete edged with a railing, holding a hot tub, a fire pit ringed with loungers, a picnic table and cornhole boards, all facing forested ridges that roll toward the high Smokies. Stone steps lead up from it to a covered porch on the main house. There’s also a game room with a pool table, a fireplace and a full kitchen with a dining area, so rainy days are covered.
Big, but read the fine print
This is a house for a real group, and it asks a few things in return. The guest checking in has to be at least twenty-five, a rental agreement must be signed before arrival, and parties such as bachelor or bachelorette weekends aren’t allowed. It’s a family-reunion or friends’-trip house, not a celebration venue.
The listing’s current name also advertises basketball and a theater, but neither appears in the amenity list or the photos we reviewed, and the bed layout isn’t published. If a court, a movie room or a particular bed mix matters to your group, confirm it with the management company before you book. Finally, this is the listing to choose for space and shared time together. For a romantic weekend, it’s far more house than two people need.
