Glass gable in a gated wood
Cabin Coco, an A-frame on Willow Lane, sits on a wooded lot in Shagbark, a gated neighborhood on the Sevierville side of the Smokies. The building is the draw: a steep steel roof dropping almost to the deck, and a front wall of glass rising to the peak. Inside, the great room is clad in knotty pine, with leather sofas, a cowhide rug, a gas fireplace and French doors that open onto the deck. A screened porch off one side holds a long dining table among the trees.
What the setting doesn’t give you is a big view. The glass looks into hardwoods and pines, not across a valley to the high ridges — lovely in autumn color, but go elsewhere if a panorama is the point. The hosts call the drive in easy and not too winding, and Pigeon Forge and Dollywood are within a reasonable run by car.
Five bedrooms, one swim spa
This is a house for a crowd, sleeping up to twelve across five bedrooms. The fifth is honest about itself: it’s the ground-floor game room with a futon, so a group of twelve will have someone bedding down in the game room. The photos show a calm, neutral bedroom with a ceiling fan and forest windows, and a bunk room with a trundle for the kids. The kitchen is complete — oven, stovetop, dishwasher, dining table — and a washer and dryer help on a longer stay.
The swim spa is the cabin’s own soak, an oversized hot tub the hosts steer you towards once the weather cools. Beyond the property line, the neighborhood adds a pool open in season, a playground, tennis courts and a community center, all shared with other owners. Guests single out how much room there is to spread out, and a small family-run host team that answers quickly.
Where the cracks show
Three bathrooms for up to twelve people is the arithmetic that matters. Guests have given the bathrooms mixed feedback, with some noting too few showers for a full house, so plan a morning rota if you fill every bed. Cleanliness is generally good but described as uneven in places.
The upper floor is stairs only, which counts for grandparents or anyone with limited mobility. And the pool, playground and tennis courts are communal, not yours alone — fine for a family, less so if you pictured a private resort. Book it for the architecture, the space and the swim spa, and go in with realistic expectations about the bathrooms and housekeeping.
