Up Ski Mountain in Chalet Village
Little Green Cabin sits on Luzerne Drive in Chalet Village, the classic hillside neighborhood that climbs Ski Mountain above downtown Gatlinburg. It’s a classic Gatlinburg setting: chalets scattered through the hardwoods and wildlife close enough that the hosts treat bear sightings as routine. Downtown and the national park entrance are a few minutes’ drive down the mountain, and Ober Gatlinburg’s amusement park and ski slope sit just up the road.
That position is the point. You’re high enough for a real view and near enough to be in town for dinner — but this is driving territory, not walking territory. Plan on taking the car down for dinner and back up the mountain afterward.
Inside the green A-frame
The Booking name calls it “A-Frame Dreams,” and for once the marketing isn’t far off. The front of the cabin is a tall glass gable over French doors, and the main room runs straight out to the deck: a deep green velvet sectional, a patterned rug, a white dining table, and a kitchen with a green island and bar stools beside the loft stairs. White shiplap and exposed timber beams keep it bright rather than cave-like, which is rarer than it should be in Smokies cabins.
Out on the deck, a hot tub sits at the corner with the ridge in front of it, string lights along the rail and a pair of chairs to watch the light change. There’s a fireplace indoors, an outdoor fireplace listed too, a game room and a console for rainy afternoons, and a full kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer-dryer — enough for a week, not just a weekend. Booking also lists a seasonal outdoor pool; we didn’t spot it in the listing photos, so ask the hosts how access works before you count on it.
Stairs, a lower bedroom and the price
An A-frame means stairs, and this one has plenty: exterior stairs up to the deck, a staircase to the upper floor, and the third bedroom down on the lower level. Anyone with limited mobility should look elsewhere, and families with toddlers will want to keep an eye on the railings.
The layout also shapes who fits. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms sound roomy, but the loft-style upper floor has sloped ceilings, and Booking caps the booking at six. It suits a couple who want space to spread out, or a small family, better than a big group of friends — and the hosts rule out parties and pets.
Finally, this is one of the pricier cabins in our selection for its size. You’re paying for the design, the view and the address rather than square footage. If the look matters to you, it’s money well spent; if you just need beds and a hot tub, there are cheaper decks with similar ridgelines.
