Deep in the Cosby hardwoods
This is the quiet, northeastern side of the Smokies, where the forest does most of the talking. The cabin sits on a wooded slope with trees pressing in on all sides, and the photos show no neighbors in view. The national park’s calmer trailheads are within a short drive, including Maddron Bald, a world away from the crowded entrances near Gatlinburg.
The trade-off is distance. Gatlinburg’s Parkway, the aquarium and the Pigeon Forge attractions are a long drive west, and restaurants and groceries mean getting in the car. For hikers and anyone who wants the woods to be the point, that’s the appeal. For a family that plans on nightly trips to the strip, it will wear thin.

Inside, it’s the log cabin people picture: a vaulted pine ceiling, a tall glass gable, a stone gas fireplace with a TV above it, and French doors onto the deck. A stone-clad kitchen island leads to a full kitchen with a dishwasher, oven and coffee machine, and a long dining table with benches sits against the windows.
Upstairs, an open loft under the roof beams holds a log-frame queen bed and looks down over the great room through a railing. There’s one proper bedroom, two bathrooms, and a jetted corner tub in a pine-panelled bath that’s one of the nicest touches in the house. A washer and dryer, a game console and a stack of DVDs round it out for longer stays.
What it asks you to accept
First and biggest: the listing states there is no internet access. No streaming, no remote work, no checking email from the sofa, so plan for that or book elsewhere. There’s also no hot tub in the listing. The jetted tub is indoors and the outdoor evening spot is the fire pit, which is lovely but isn’t a soak under the stars.
It sleeps eight on paper, but that’s a queen in the bedroom, a queen in the open loft and two sofa beds. Four adults are comfortable; eight means sharing the living room and giving up privacy. And it’s a two-storey cabin on a slope, with stairs up to the deck and up to the loft, so it isn’t a good fit for anyone who struggles with steps.
