Between the two towns, above the traffic
Cabin In The Smokeys sits on a wooded hillside between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, a stained log cabin under a green metal roof with a paved drive running right up to the porch. It’s a short drive down to the Gatlinburg attractions and not much further to Pigeon Forge in the other direction, which makes it an easy base if your plans split between the Parkway, Dollywood and the national park.
What guests keep returning to is the setting once you’re home: a private, quiet spot where the rear deck looks out over the ridges and catches the sunrise. The owner says as much, and it’s the right instinct. This is a cabin to take your morning coffee outside.
A one-bedroom with a playful streak
Inside, it’s one open run under a vaulted pine ceiling: a kitchen with a breakfast bar and a set of retro pastel appliances, a living room with a deep sofa, an electric fireplace below the TV, and a full-size arcade cabinet by the window. Board games and puzzles cover the evenings the arcade doesn’t.
The bedroom is where the cabin shows its romantic side, with a queen bed and a soaking tub set into the corner beside it. Out back, a private hot tub sits on the rear deck facing the view, while a grill waits beside the drive for cookout nights. At the far end of the living room, a bunk-bed alcove with a desk gives kids their own corner, a sofa bed adds one more sleeping spot, and a washing machine takes care of the muddy-trail laundry.
Where six starts to feel like a crowd
The listing allows up to six guests, and that’s where honesty matters. There’s one bedroom and one bathroom, with a shower stall rather than a tub. The bunks sit in an alcove open to the living room, not behind a door, and the last sleeping spot is a sofa bed. For a couple, or two parents with a couple of kids, the layout works well; for six adults, it means queuing for the bathroom and very little privacy.
And while both towns are close, the hillside roads mean driving: the nearest restaurants are a mile or more away by car, so the car comes out for meals and attractions alike.
